Monday, April 22, 2013 — Stanly County Board of Commissioners met with representatives of ALCOA on Monday morning at the Stanly County Airport for the purposes of a having a closed session to discuss the 401 water quality permit intervention, APGI’s public records request lawsuit and to discuss economic development.
Following the meeting Monday morning County Manager Andy Lucas provided a statement composed by the Commissioners.
“The Stanly County Commissioners have reached a consensus to authorize the court attorney to finalize an agreement with ALCOA and ALCOA Power Generating Inc. to settle all outstanding issues associated with Yadkin projects licenses between us,” the statement read.
“The Commissioners have scheduled a vote for May 6. We believe this agreement is in the best interest of the citizens of Stanly County and we look forward to releasing more details when the agreement is finalized.”
Commissioner Peter Ascuitto provided a short comment on the meeting,
“I’m just very pleased that we sat across the table from ALCOA today and moved forward,” Asciutto said.
