This is the kind of thing that really makes my jaw drop in amazement! An email from Roger Dick to Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco, four days before Alcoa announced the 200 ERI jobs coming to Badin:
"We have a problem with our efforts to Recapture the Yadkin. ... Alcoa ... can claim they are bringing 200 jobs back to Badin and take our argument away about jobs."
" Take our argument away about jobs?"
That's what's important to Roger Dick and the Secretary of Commerce? Not getting jobs?
Not that Keith Crisco hadn't already tried to deter the CEO of ERI John Shegerian by going out of his way to mention that the Badin site is subject to a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act permit under DENR (a program Alcoa voluntarily entered into back in the 1990s). I heard Shegerian was furious about the letter. How many letters like this do you think the Commerce Secretary personally sends out to prospective NC employers?
It's obvious that jobs are just pawns in the game Roger Dick and Keith Crisco are playing.
